How Much Does A Logo Cost?

Woman with short hair pointing to words that say, "How much does a logo cost?"

“I keep getting quotes for designing my new logo that are outrageous! I don’t understand why designers charge so much for a simple logo that probably takes them no time to create.”

If this sounds like something you’ve said or something you’ve heard, keep reading.

As a startup business, finances can be tight. You have to really watch where your money is spent and use it wisely to help grow your business and achieve your goals.

So, where does your design budget fit in with the overall big picture of your business plan? You’ve probably thought of a name, estimated operating expenses, the initial investment in products and equipment, maybe even what you’ll post on social media and some marketing plans for your business. But before you can get to the point of marketing your business, you need a logo and brand development.

Why is branding so important when starting a business?

You need to establish your presence with your target audience. Building trust and a solid foundation is vital when it comes to building a trusting and profitable client base. Just like with big brands such as Coke or Chick-fil-a, every time you purchase their products, you know exactly what you're getting and it’s going to taste the same each time. If you drive up to a McDonalds and the golden arches are red, you’d probably question whether or not you should eat there and if it’s really a McDonalds.

People should question your business the same way because they should be so familiar with your logo and branding that they automatically know if something doesn’t look right. Depending on the goals you have for your business, your business may never be a “household name” BUT, it could be that for a very select audience that you grow and build trust with.

How much does Ollie Kat Design charge for a logo design?

As you’ve probably heard before, there are many factors that go into pricing out design work. Each client is unique and so are their needs.

Some factors we use to determine pricing include:

  • Type of logo requested and how in-depth the design will be.

  • Customer budget and expectations.

  • Projected time spent on the project (research, design, communication, etc.)

  • How the logo/branding will be used and the size of the current or projected audience.

  • Project timeline and start date (is it a rush job?)

  • Overall client package (we offer discounts for branding/startup packages when purchased together.)

We consider ourselves in the midrange for cost of logo design and branding. We aren’t going to offer logo designs from templates and a 24-hour turnaround time for $100 because that’s not adequate in our opinion.

We put a lot of thought, research, and effort into designing a logo that will best serve your business for years to come. We feel that investing in quality design from the start of your business is essential and it is our goal to help you create a brand that will be successful and thrive in the everchanging business and marketing world.
